This is Life Chapel's Bible-reading initiative for the whole congregation, with reading plans for adults and children that are designed with the family in mind!
S.O.A.P.
(Scripture): Open your Bible to the assigned reading for the day, or choose a passage if you're doing your own study. As you read, pay attention to verses or phrases that stand out. Write them down, circle key words, and underline anything that speaks to you.
(Observation): Reflect on the scripture. Ask yourself, “What is God saying through this passage?” Consider the context and meaning of the text. Take note of any repeated words or key themes that stand out. Write down your thoughts and insights.
(Application): Think about how this scripture applies to your life, but also what it reveals about God’s character or His plans. Ask yourself, “What is my next step in response to this passage?” This might be an action to take, something to learn, or a deeper understanding of who God is.
(Prayer): Write a prayer based on what you've learned. Ask God to help you live out the truth of His Word, or to grow in understanding of what He's teaching you through this passage. Take time to listen as you pray, knowing that God desires to speak with you as well.
